Indian Hills Support Susan G. Komen
Indian Hills Country Club’s swimming pool was a sea of pink on Saturday, June 23rd as the Swim and Dive Team participated in a Swim/Dive For The Cure fundraiser. Each year, the CCSAKC League encourages each team to participate in a philanthropic event, drive or fundraiser. This year, IHCC chose the Susan G Komen For The Cure as breast cancer hits close to home with this team. Over the past two summers, the IHCC swim and dive team have watched and supported two swim/dive team moms and their respective families go through breast cancer. We wanted to teach the kids about breast cancer awareness and spread the word about early detection. It was a fun filled day complete with swimming, diving, a pancake breakfast, DJ, guest appearances and prizes. In addition to Saturday’s event, a Mom’s Night Out at The Monogram Shop was held where 10% of all proceeds went to The Susan G Komen Fund. Overall, this event raised a little over $11,300.00.

Brookridge Sharks Swim for Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City
On June 24th the Brookridge Sharks held a Sharkfest Pool Party and collected 54 goggles, 5 kickboards, 7 swim suits, 16 swim toys, 3 swim caps, and nearly $1000 in cash donations to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City. Sharkfest was sponsored and organized by the Swim & Dive Team and involved all Brookridge members. Special Sharkfest drinks were sold with the proceeds added to the cash donations. Sharkfest included games of water balloon tosses, shark family relays, a cannon ball contest, penny dives, and relays of seniors against the swim coaches. The younger swimmers dressed the coaches up prior to the relay race. The winners of the games received popsicles and shark tooth necklaces. Fun was had by all to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.
The Brookridge Sharks received cash donations for heat sheets at our home meets against Blue Hills Country Club and Oakwood Country Club. Cash donations were also received from the Kona Ice sales made at our two home meets. All cash donations were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City.
The Senior members of the Swim and Dive team donated their time and talents when they taught swimming lessons and were able to teach water safety to the members of the Boys and Girls Club.
The Brookridge community service event was successful due to the volunteering of time, talents, and treasures by the members of Brookridge and all members of the swim and dive team!

Mission Hills Raises Cash for Operation Breakthrough
On July 6th, Mission Hills swim team just completed a fabulous Swim & Dive-a-Thon to benefit Operation Breakthrough’s Little Kicks swim program. In over 105 degree heat, the kids hit the pool to raise money for swimsuits, kickboards, transportation costs and swim lessons. Kids who raised the most money were awarded the coveted Coach-for-a-Day prize! Swimmers in each age group, who completed the most laps, were the lucky ones who threw a pie at one of our swim coaches. Thank you to all participants; to all parent volunteers and to the coaches for putting up with a lot of whipped cream!

Carriage Club Supports 'The Children's Place'
The Carriage Club 'swim-a-thon' fundraiser was held on June 16th and was led by Maggie Glaze and Hannah Tutuera. The event raised $4606 for the Children's Place to benefit their swim therapy program. This program helps empower neglected or abused children through learning to swim and trust.
Leawood South Swim-a-Thon for Boys and Girls Club
On June 9th, LSCC swimmers and divers took to the pool swimming laps for three hours, eating yummy pancakes served by Cris Cakes, and cheering on their croc crews! The kids solicited donations from parents, friends, relatives, and neighbors and collected over $2,600.00 to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs whose mission is to promote the development of self-esteem, values, and skills for boys and girls, ages 5-18, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances. The crews with the most spirit were awarded a whipped cream pie to throw in the face of their favorite coach and the crews completing the most laps/dives received gift cards to either Chipotle, Peachwave, or Starbucks. Congratulations to Josh Gibson for collecting the most donations and winning an I-pad! Fun was had by all and a special thanks to our coaches for being such great sports!
